Covid 19 rules for tripping boats from 4 July 2020

Dorset council have given us new rules to keep everybody safe while out mackerel fishing and deep sea fishing from Lyme Regis harbour.

We can carry four people from separate families or up to six from a family group.

1.2 metre spaces will be marked out on the deck and each person has to stay within their square.

Passengers need to bring disposable gloves and a facemask and wear them before embarking, throughout the trip and for disembarking.

Social distancing is to be observed at all times.

At the end of each trip the boat must be cleaned down and the passengers can help with this. The skipper will give everyone disinfecting wipes to rub down their area and fishing rods if used, mackerel lines will be placed in a bucket of water containing disinfectant.

I always make it my business to help everyone onto the boat but because of the virus I can’t so everyone needs to be aware of this and step very carefully, I will be right there to advise.

Because I am restricted to take fewer passengers the fares have to go up to make a trip viable. Mackerel fishing trips will be £15 per person. Prices for children can be discussed at the time of booking.

Prices for deep-sea fishing will be £45 per person, rod and bait included.

If you want to bring several children please tell me and we can talk about it.

As you walk around the Cobb you may come across a barrier around the Aquarium area. This is there to protect the fishermen from the public. Please pass through this barrier but don’t stop to talk to any fishermen. Head straight to the end of the Cobb and wait at the top of the steps on the left. Please observe social distancing from others around.

I want you to have a safe and pleasurable boat trip experience so please help by adhering to the rules so that we can all enjoy the day.

Thank you!
